How Do I Know Who God Wants Me to Marry?

How Do I Know Who God Wants Me to Marry? We answered that question on this week’s episode of Real Truth. Real Quick.

Show Notes:

Principles:

1. God doesn’t have a SOLE mate for us, but He does want us to help one another’s souls. (see Genesis 2:18)
2. There is nothing in Scripture suggesting we have one specific person God created only for us.
3. Your focus should not be on finding the right person. Your focus should be on becoming the right person.
4. As you run after Christ, look to see who is running with you. That is who you want to yoke your life with.
5. Whatever is true for the collective community of God’s people ought to absolutely be true in marriage, the most intimate of all human relationships.
6. If you are married to someone who has a different view of wisdom than you, or a different understanding of God’s will, your house is going to be in real trouble
7. If you want to be married, look for someone who is as passionate about following Jesus as you are.
8. Most people are dangerously attracted to superficial things.
9. You will not find someone who loves you well until they understand the love of Christ well.
10. Every relationship takes work, humility, and selflessness. You will never find the perfect “one” who will keep you from having to die to yourself in order to make the relationship work.
11. You want to pursue God’s best in everything, including marriage.
12. You shouldn’t marry someone who is not already well-married to Jesus.
13. God wants you to be equally yoked, ( 2 Corinthians 6:14 ) not to a specific person, but to a specific kind of person.
14. Make sure you know what it means to walk with God, and then run with someone else who has that same passion.
