How Should I Respond If My Child Says They Want to Change Their Gender? I answered that question on this episode of Real Truth. Real Quick.
Scripture:
“Discipline your son while there is hope, and do not desire his death.” Proverbs 19:18
“When I was a child, I used to speak like a child, think like a child, reason like a child; when I became a man, I did away with childish things.” 1 Corinthians 13:11
“Trust in the LORD with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.” Proverbs 3:5-6
“Also it is not good for a person to be without knowledge, and he who hurries his footsteps errs.” Proverbs 19:2
“The foolishness of man ruins his way, and his heart rages against the LORD.” Proverbs 19:3
“There is a way which seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death.” Proverbs 14:12
Principles:
- Don’t be surprised when your children want childish things.
- Don’t confuse less common expressions of male or female with a child being misgendered.
- Empathize and lead.
Great parents do these things:
- Have a plan. 2. They are present. 3. They are a parent.
In Summary:
1. Love your child. 2. Listen to your child. 3. Help your child.
In all things remind them of the goodness of God and His way.
