How Old Is The Earth?
QuestionsHow Old Is The Earth? We answered that question on this episode of Real Truth. Real Quick.
Show Notes:
Principles
1. The question regarding the age of the earth is one that exposes our assumptions of and understanding about design and the creation process.
2. Darwinistic theory is a theory.
3. The more we examine what the data suggests happened, the closer we get to answering the question, “Are you a creationist?”.
4. Judging things based on appearance alone is never a good idea. The assumption that natural processes alone are the only kind of operative process is also a mistake.
5. We often rule out the fact that there are some unnatural things that happen in this natural earth.
6. The Bible is not a science book, which is a good thing because science books change continually.
7. The opposite of faith is not science or reason, the opposite of faith is disbelief. The opposite of reason is irrationality.
8. The Scientific Method requires observation of events that can be repeated. We cannot go back and repeat a one-time historical event.
9. The Scriptures rebuke the idea that nothing exists outside of natural processes in history.
10. Some natural processes once thought to require a very long period of time have actually proved to require less time.
11. The Bible deals with and addresses practical atheism, which is people living as if there is no God.
12. God has intervened supernaturally before, and He is going to intervene again.
13. Don’t be intimidated by the idea that the earth looks old, and don’t be intimidated by the fact that the Bible is not a science book.
14. The hard sciences are there to test repeatable events, not to judge whether or not something in history is true.
15. The God who created us is willing to make us new again.
